rot with me is a kinetic visual novel that examines the lived experience of disability through a queer romantic narrative. The story, approximately 4,700 words in length, takes 20–30 minutes to read and explores the delicate emotional terrain between necessary rest and the fear of physical or emotional decay. The work combines 90+ hand-drawn and collaged images to create an atmospheric visual experience. As a kinetic novel, the story progresses linearly with player agency limited to a single meaningful choice presented at the conclusion, allowing the narrative to unfold as intended by its creators. The game includes free Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome screening resources in the extras section. Developed collaboratively by two people living with hEDS, the work draws on authentic experience to create a deeply personal meditation on disability, vulnerability, and intimacy.
