Chosen by the Abyss follows Lia and Kira as they stumble upon a mysterious crystal in a cave near their village, awakening something long forgotten. As they begin their studies at the Academy of Adventurers, an ancient darkness emerges from the ruins beneath the city, calling out to Lia by name. The entity offers her a path to power and recognition, exploiting her feelings of being overlooked and underestimated.

The game features a branching corruption system that tracks the player's moral choices and their descent into darkness. The narrative explores themes of power, betrayal, and the cost of being truly seen by others, presenting a slow-burn story rooted in dark fantasy worldbuilding. The world is built around the legend of five goddesses who once protected the realm, until one turned against it and was sealed away by another goddess's sacrifice.

This solo-developed project combines hand-drawn artwork with AI-assisted illustration techniques to create a distinctive visual style. The developer emphasizes the game is their first visual novel and welcomes feedback as the project continues to evolve through regular updates.
