Each week, letters arrive offering various jobs with different pay rates and consequences. The core gameplay involves selecting one job per week to meet escalating monthly payments, starting at 600 gold and rising to 1,300 gold by month three.

The game tracks three interconnected attributes that decline as Eleonore makes difficult choices: Chastity, Dignity, and Standing. Each has four ranks that, once lost, cannot be recovered. Decisions about which work to accept affect her reputation in town, her personal relationships, and her self-respect. The story features several key characters offering different paths, from Cecilia, a devoted friend, to Marc, a morally flexible guild foreman, to Vernet, the merchant handling her debts.

The game emphasizes player agency with multiple endings unlocked through different choices, ranging from retaining the house to various outcomes involving sex work, relationships, and compromise. Losing the manor is not presented as failure but as a branching point leading to different narrative conclusions reflecting the player's previous decisions.
