Enslaved

Enslaved is an open-world RPG with an unconventional loss condition. Rather than traditional game-over mechanics, the player character can be captured, bound, and sold to various locations when defeated in combat. The core gameplay loop revolves around escaping captivity before or after being sold to different buyers, each featuring unique tasks and mini-games. Combat encounters use quick-time event mechanics for dodging enemy attacks. The progression system involves discovering and equipping accessories throughout the small open world, which grant access to new abilities and passive bonuses similar to Final Fantasy 9. Certain abilities unlock new exploration capabilities, such as jumping across gaps or pushing obstacles, encouraging players to revisit areas. The game features twelve different captive scenarios with varying gameplay challenges. The developer emphasizes that this is a fictional fantasy experience and notes the game contains no graphic violence or death, though it can explore darker themes. The project is presented as a complete, playable experience from beginning to end, though the developer acknowledges potential technical issues and grammar problems as this was their first game.
